To live deliciously – Sold Out!

Event Description

Dost thou dare to live deliciously? Would it frighten you?

Do you fear the depths of hell? Yet what cost for contentment?

Only by staring into the abyss do we find truth.

To live deliciously is the queer exploration of self and why we find ourselves delving into the underworld to find acceptance. Witness a heartfelt homage to the red baddy downstairs. As grandma used to say “you go to heaven for the weather and hell for the company” and we would all rather be having a smoke with Judy garland than shaking hands with some clean winged daddy’s boy.

Vibrate in symphonic hellish bops as ÚMBRIEL (James Halloran) and Sellma Soul return from the closet to present Brisbane’s first ride to hell as they sing hits from Kate Bush, Bjork, Tori Amos and many more.

Featuring CULT the fiendish big band straight from the goats lounge room!

My dears, I dare you!

A special festival collaboration between JAMES HALLORAN and SELLMA SOUL…

About the Artists

Photography by Jade Ellis

"ÚMBRIEL is an electronic, art-pop powerhouse based in Brisbane, Australia. Once described as “Like Enya on Steroids”, this flamboyant being is  guaranteed to seduce you into their strange, other-world where string quartets battle industrial synthesizers, all held together with a voice that is incandescent in its ability to grow, to strike, to pierce, and to mend, surrendering into vivid and emotive expression.

With influences spanning from Nina simone, to Kate Bush and Bjork, ÚMBRIEL blends orchestral theatricality, erotic depth, and pop appeal with industrial grit. ÚMBRIEL is a musician and performer whose process and work participates within myriad modalities and styles. This is freak-pop by genre, unsettled by its context, strident in its content.

"Industrial percussive thuds frame the delicate swirling of piano, bells and electrifying harmonies as ÚMBRIEL‘s voice wanders from lustful sighing to carnal cries, a theatrical and hyper-sexual slice of sonic brilliance.” - Happy Mag

ÚMBRIEL is a liminal being, an artist that seeks an intimacy with the Shining Ones, becoming a hollow bone to channel stories from the other side."

Sellma Soul Aka Ethan Watson.

Sellma Soul is Brisbane’s most eccentric drag queen. Recently bursting onto national television Sellma has introduced herself as the queen of the big bald, beautiful and weird. In 2011 she interned with harvest rain now Hayward studios where she first got a taste for musical theatre she slowly slipped down that glorious dirty and accepting slope of cabaret where she discovered all things alternative...Well the rest is trash and sprinkles of high glamour.
